The Venezuelan ruler wants to stay in power "until 2021 or until God wants" - During the ceremony of inauguration of the Libertador Municipality Mayor Jorge Rodríguez, President Chávez warned that "there is no Chavezism without Chávez" (Photo: Miraflores Press Office) - Venezuela's President Hugo Chávez authorized on Sunday his United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) to debate and raise a reform of the Venezuelan Constitution aimed at his indefinite reelection. During the inauguration of PSUV leader Jorge Rodríguez as the Caracas Libertador Municipality Mayor -an act that took place in Caracas Square, downtown the Venezuelan capital, and was aired in a nationwide radio an TV mandatory broadcast-, the Venezuelan ruler complained that in some mayoralties and governors' offices won by opposition candidates, "people have come under attack" and there have been aggressions against the staff of the government's social welfare programs, known as missions."After seeing what is happening and the huge threat that looms over the Venezuelan people with these fascist sectors, I say you were right: Hey! Hey! Chávez is here to stay!" the president said. "I give the PSUV and the Venezuelan people my authorization to launch a debate and take the steps necessary to obtain the constitutional reform and the reelection of the president... and I am sure that we will make it now," Chávez said. The leftist leader added: "I am ready and if I am healthy and alive, God willing, I will be with you until 2019 or 2021 or until God says and the people want." To that end, Chávez said that it was necessary to keep his so-called battalions, socialist patrols and social movements in motion. No dissentChávez assessed the results of November 23rd local polls, and stressed that such vote showed that "there is no Chavezism without Chávez". "Those who have encouraged such a thing have made a huge mistake." He urged his allied parties to think carefully to avoid being "carried away by siren songs or the praises of the oligarchy, or acting based on their personal interests. I am telling you, the doors of the revolution are open. So, it is up to everyone to choose their path. This is my message to the parties that are allegedly allies of Chávez and the PSUV." The Venezuelan head of State said that "there are some attitudes in our allied parties that I have not been able to understand and I will never understand; now they will take the decisions they have to take but everybody must understand that there is no such thing as the dissent within Chavezism. The regional elections showed that the one who betrays Chávez dies politically. " http://english. eluniversal. com/2008/ 12/01/en_ pol_esp_chavez- instructs- his_01A2152619. shtml
